Welcome to the Yurigurumi blog!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog! This blog is going to focus on crochet tips and tricks, (free!) patterns, and personal ramblings from yours truly (me, Christina!).
My crochet journey actually started the year before when I was living in Dresden, Germany on a work-abroad placement. I wanted to start up a new hobby to spend my evenings when I wasn't at work or travelling, so I decided to crochet little Pokemon figurines!
I put crochet on hold when I returned to finish up my studies. Then, as some of you may know, I started yurigurumi on Etsy at the beginning of 2017 right after I graduated university with my BSc in Chemistry. I decided to transition to making predominantly amigurumi animals because I love animals! Plus, well, selling Pokemon on Etsy is highly controversial and I'm the type to avoid conflict.
Now after 3 years of selling my handmade animals I want to take the next step and try my hand at pattern writing and blogging. Honestly, I LOVE the physical act of crocheting and I'm not the strongest writer, so I guess that's why it's taken me this long to venture into this side of crochet. Also, the first 2 years I sort of had yurigurumi on "set it and forget it" mode because I was focusing on establishing myself in my scientific career. So bear with me as I learn the ropes of blog writing! :)
